Diving in Truk Lagoon is an adventure you will never forget. WWII wrecks are scattered across 77 square miles. The wrecks are covered with life. There are over 300 varieties of hard and soft corals. On the outer reef you'll find mountains of coral that stretch as far as the eye can see, and drops off into the abyss.
In 1944, Japan's fortress of Truk Lagoon was attacked by US Task Force 58. More than 400 Japanese planes were wiped out and some 60+ ships were believed sunk. The two days of devastating air attacks created what is today known as the "Ghost Fleet of Truk Lagoon." On these wrecks, you may find such wartime relics as military trucks, cases of ammunition, field artillery pieces, airplanes and propeller blades, mines, gas masks, sake bottles, and machine guns. Palau
This resort offers private bungalows, modeled after Palau’s centuries old architecture. Each bungalow is air-conditioned, has a private bath, cable TV/VCR, private balcony, refrigerator, and a mini bar. While at Caroline’s Resort we will have 5 days of 2 tank diving, and a kayak trip through the rock islands. Other activities are offered and can be privately arranged. Palau is one of the most extraordinary diving spots on this planet. Far to the southwest of Micronesia the Republic of Belau (the traditional name) consists of an archipelago of 343 islands, spread north to south over 100 miles form the atoll of Kayangel to the island of Angaur plus five tiny islands, known as the southwest islands. Palau's profuse, unspoiled reefs offer a wealth of marine life, coral formations and wrecks. Dives begin in knee deep water and plunge straight down to depths of 1000 feet and more.Blue holes, huge caverns and an immense variety of rare and exotic marine species are easily accessible in clear water with visibility exceeding 200 feet. Vast numbers, not found anywhere else in the world, turtles, dolphins and many species of migratory fish gather here at a unique crossroads of three of the world's major ocean currents. Truk Lagoon is wonderful for recreational divers that want to see the colors of the South Pacific, as well as WWII buffs and shipwreck divers. The number, variety, and size of the wrecks and the spectacular marine life that grows on them are unequalled.
